Louisburg College Announces Mike McGuire as Hurricanes Head Baseball Coach

The search for the new Louisburg College Baseball Coach has officially come to an end.  After reviewing hundreds of applications, the administration is confident that Mike McGuire is the right choice for the Hurricanes.  With more than seventeen years of coaching experience, McGuire is confident that he can build on Louisburg's strong foundation of excellence and lead the Hurricanes back to the NJCAA World Series of Baseball.

Athletics Director Mike Holloman stated, "Mike McGuire's baseball experience, recruiting contacts and previous head coaching experience make him the perfect fit for Louisburg College Baseball. His personality and work history should serve him well as the leader of our Baseball Program. I am excited to have him join the Hurricane Family!"

Head Coach Mike McGuire comes to Louisburg from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC, where he served as the Assistant Head Coach for six years.  While at Winthrop he was responsible for all aspects of recruiting and served as the Catching and Outfield Coach.  Prior to serving at Winthrop University, Coach McGuire was the Head Baseball Coach for three years at Lander University in Greenwood South Carolina.

Coach McGuire earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration from the University of South Carolina.  As a student-athlete, McGuire was the starting infielder for the Gamecocks and participated in two NCAA Regional Finals.  McGuire continued his baseball playing career after graduation, when he was selected to play professionally for the Zanesville Greys – Class A Frontier League.   McGuire ended his playing career in 1994 when he went to Morehead State University in Columbia, SC, to earn his Masters of Arts in Health, Physical Education and to take his first coaching job.  While at Morehead State University, McGuire served as the Pitching Coach and Catching Instructor.

Coach McGuire is married to the former Angela Kearns of Heyworth, IL.  The couple has two children; Courtney (6) and Sydney (4).  They plan to reside in Louisburg.
