Hurricanes Add New Batting Facility
The Hurricanes Baseball team is the proud owners of a new batting facility. Through the joint efforts of many, the dream of having covered batting cages is now a reality. The new batting facility boasts two 70'X12' turf cages with net dividers. The area is enclosed with an a-frame style roof and completed with lights. The new facility will allow two players to warm up at a time and can also be used by pitchers. The lights and roof enclosure make this area a great asset for rainy days and dark nights.
Head Baseball Coach Mike McGuire said, "This hitting facility was the missing piece of the puzzle and something our baseball program needed. It will prove to be an asset in both player development and recruiting. It will allow us to hit and throw regardless of the weather. I am very thankful for the financial contributions and support that made this facility happen. It will further add to the prestige of Frazier field."
The new hitting facility is located on the backside of Frazier Field, behind the Billy Godwin Clubhouse. The old cage remains on the third-base side of the field and will be used by the visiting teams during games.
