#2 LC Baseball Cruises Past Brunswick CC, 9-2

 

The No. 2-ranked Louisburg baseball team cruised to a 9-2 non-region victory Wednesday night over Brunswick Community College at Frazier Field.  The home contest was scheduled to be played at the USA Complex in Cary, NC but was moved due to inclement weather.

The 'Canes led the Dolphins 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning.  Brunswick would get a runner on after a walk by Ingram then a wild pitch would advance the runner to second.  A RBI single would bring one run to the plate but the Dolphins could not manufacture any more runs leaving two on base and the Hurricanes up 6-1.

Louisburg went up 9-1 in the sixth scoring two runs.  Long advanced on a hit by pitch before scoring off of Chris Robinson's RBI double.  Marcus Wojtkowicz single would plate Robinson for the 'Canes final run of the game.

Brunswick cut the Hurricanes lead to 9-2 in the eight off a deep center field homer by Josh Hardwick but reliever Josh Roeder forced the Dolphins into a double play then fan the next batter to end the game. 

Zach Houchins, who went 4-for-6 in the game, hit his eleventh homerun of the year along with a double, and two RBI.  Steve Nyisztor led the first inning off with a single ­to right center, followed by Houchins double advancing Nyisztor to third.  Tyler Long would single to right field moving the runners and scoring Nyisztor.  Chris King would send a deep ball to right field with a RBI SAC fly bringing the score to 2-0 after Houchins scored. 

Louisburg's Josh Bowers (1-0) earned the win after relieving starter Demetrus Ingram.  Bowers' tossed 1.2 innings giving up three hit and one run with one strikeout. 

Brunswick's Jordan Cummings (0-1) took the loss with four earned runs in 3.0 innings.

For Louisburg, Nyisztor, Long, Robinson, Wojtkowicz, and Brandon Rawe had two hits each. 

The Hurricanes improved to 37-4 overall, while Brunswick fell to 18-12.
