'Canes Win 5-0 Over Brunswick CC

Louisburg College defeated Brunswick Community College in baseball action Wednesday evening at Frazier Field.  The Canes improved to a perfect 13-0 record while Brunswick fell to 5-3.

Behind the pitching of University of North Carolina transfer Tim Brechbuehler (3-0), the Canes held Brunswick to just four hits and no runs in the game.  In his best outing of the year-to-date, Brechbuehler recorded no walks and fanned 10 batters in 7.1 innings.

The Hurricanes put up two runs in the bottom of the first inning, en route to a 5-0 win.  Jake Watson led off the inning with a walk setting the table for Steve Nyzistor's RBI triple down the left field line.  Zach Houchins' ground out RBI brought home the second and final run of the inning plating Nyzistor for Houchins' fourteenth RBI of the year.

Brunswick would remain hitless in the next three innings bringing the 'Canes back to the plate.  In the bottom half of the fourth inning, Louisburg's Chris King would crush his second homerun of the year over the left field wall making the score 3-0.

A throwing error by Brunswick's shortstop followed by a wild pitch advanced Houchins to second base in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Tucker Coward RBI singled scored Houchins, bringing Augie Ayers to the plate.  Ayers reached first base on yet another fielding error by the visiting team bringing around Coward to score last run of the game for Louisburg. As a team, the Canes had 7 hits, 5 runs, and 4 RBI.

Louisburg Baseball will return to action against Ann Arundel Community College this Friday.  Game time is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
