Hurricanes Defeat Wake Tech Eagles
Louisburg baseball used a four run, fifth inning to surge past Wake Tech 5-3 Wednesday afternoon in non region action at Frazier Field. LC improves to 29-3 while the Wake Tech CC drops to 7-10.
Wake Tech took an early lead over the Hurricanes in the first inning scoring one run off of a wild pitch by 'Canes pitcher Demetrus Ingram. The Hurricanes battled back in the bottom of the third, tying the score 1-1 after Steve Nyisztor doubled then traded places with Zach Houchins on his own RBI double.
The lead would change hands again as the Eagles plated their second run of the game in the top of the fourth using two singles to lift them ahead 2-1.
Tech would never get within two runs of the 'Canes after Louisburg exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning started by Josh Bowers' leadoff home run, his third on the year, to deep right field. Nyisztor and Houchins would both reach base on singles setting the stage for Chris King's double down the left field line scoring Nyisztor to tie the game, 2-2. Tyler Long and Chris Robinson would give the Hurricanes the final lift it needed with a RBI single and a fielder's choice that plated Houchins and Long to give the 'Canes a 5-2 lead.
The Eagles would threaten in the top of the sixth manufacturing one run but left three base runners on base giving the Hurricanes their 29th win on the year.
Ches Lamm picked up his first win tossing 2.0 innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one batter. Demetrus Ingram started for the 'Canes working 3.2 innings and struck out two batters faced.
Long and Nyisztor led the Hurricanes going 2-for-4 while Long had one RBI. Bowers went 1-for-3 with one RBI and a home run.
The 'Canes return to action Saturday as they take on Region X opponent Guilford Tech Community College at Frazier Field. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
