'Canes Earn Win Over Lancers, 2-1

Louisburg College baseball defeated Lenoir Community College in a non-region contest Wednesday evening at Frazier Field by the score of 2-1. Louisburg improves to 44-6 overall, while Lenoir CC drops to 24-16.

The 'Canes Cody Johnson (8-1) earned the win on the mound after striking out one, walking three and allowing no runs on two hits in three innings of work.  The Lancer's Tyler Kenney (2-5) suffered the loss, striking out one, walking four and allowing two earned runs on two hits in 1.2 innings.

Louisburg was held to a season low four hits but was able to plate two runs in the first and second innings to hold on for the win.  The Hurricanes jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings but struggled to manufacture any more runs with only two hits in the next seven innings.

The Lancers would threaten in the top of the fourth as reliever Daniel Hyatt gave up the Lancers only run of the game on a two-out RBI single cutting the lead at 2-1.

For Louisburg, Jake Watson batted 1-for-2 and Marcus Wojtckowciz was 1-for-3 with a RBI.

The Hurricanes are on the road this weekend in their final Region X match-up against USC-Sumter.  Saturday's double-header will begin at 1:00 p.m.
