Hurricanes Earn Four Wins Against Suffolk County CC
The Louisburg College baseball team continued their winning streak as they wrapped up their weekend defeating Suffolk County four times at Frazier Field. The Hurricanes improve to 12-0 with the wins.
Game 1:
Louisburg College 13 Suffolk County Community College 7
Demetrus Ingram (1-0) picked up the win for the 'Canes in game 1 allowing 4 runs on 5 hits, two walks and five strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work. Tim Trimarchi (0-1) tossed two innings and surrendered six runs on six hits, one walk and no strikeouts for Suffolk to earn the loss.
Louisburg used a one-run first inning and a six-run third inning to jump ahead of the Sharks 7-0. After a homerun from Josh Bowers and a double from Chris Robinson, Suffolk's catcher made an error to score Robinson. Steve Nyisztor's RBI double plated Watson. Zach Houchin's base on balls created a pitching change for Suffolk as they brought in pitcher Kirk to replace Timarchi. With no outs, Kyle McCrossen's SAC bunt advanced Houchins to second and Nyisztor to third bringing Tucker Coward to the plate. Coward's double plated both runners. After a 'Cane out, Augie Ayers RBI single brought Coward home ending the scoring for the Hurricanes in the third.
Suffolk responded to score seven runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings to trim its deficit 8-7, but would never come close again as Louisburg scored its final five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Game 2:

Louisburg College pitcher Cody Cox (2-0) was one out away from a no-hitter before Suffolk County's Putkowski stepped to the plate in the top of the seventh and singled to right field. In 6.2 innings, Cox set down 11 batters while allowing only one hit on two runs, two walks and one error en route to a 4-3 win for the 'Canes in Saturday's game one of its double header at Frazier Field.
In 4.5 scoreless innings for either team, Louisburg broke the drought in the bottom of the 5th as the 'Canes tallied two runs. TJ Ersham's double down the left field line set the table for Jake Watson's SAC fly, advancing Ersham to third. With two outs, Zach Houchin's RBI single plated Ersham. Tucker Coward's two-out single scored Houchins from second base. A fly out to right field by Augie Ayers ended the inning.
Cox set down the next three batters in order in the top half of the sixth before the 'Canes headed into its half plating two more runs. Opening up the bottom half, pinch hitter Chris King tripled to left field as Marcus Wojtkowicz's RBI single plated King for the third run of the game. With Long pinch running for Wojtkowicz, a pitcher error allowed Long to advance to third. An RBI by Ersham brought Long in for the 'Cane's final run of the game.
The Sharks would not go away without a fight as they threatened in the top of the seventh with three runs to cut the lead to one. After two batters were set down by Cox, he walked Rich Kissane which enabled a Putkowski single to right field to advance Kissane to second base. Josh Roeder came in for relief for Cox. After two RBI singles from Suffolk, Johnson's ground out to first base ended the game giving Roeder the save.

Game 3:
Louisburg 15 Suffolk County Community College 1
Louisburg College Baseball combined for 15 runs on 15 hits en route to a 15-1 win to finish off Saturday's double header against Suffolk County Community College at Frazier Field.
Willie Sligh (2-0) got the win for the 'Canes. In three innings worked, Sligh gave up one run, three hits, and struck out three batters. Daniel Hyatt, Jeremy Coburn, Daniel Carroll, and Chad Maynor combined for four innings, six strike outs and only two hits in the win.
Offensively the Hurricanes went deep three times as Zach Houchins, Bill Little, and Chris Robinson each recorded home runs. Little led Louisburg going 2-3 with three RBI. The 'Canes were also paced by Houchinsand Chris King going 2-3. Houchins recorded two RBI. In late innings, Marcus Wojtkowicz stepped and was 2-2.
Louisburg jumped out to an early lead in the bottom half of the first inning scoring five runs. Jake Watson's hbp sent him to first and Zach Houchins' one-out homer brought in 2 RBI. A bb by Tucker Coward brought Chris King to the plate. With a single by King, Coward advanced to second with two outs in the inning. Another walk by Suffolk to batter Chris Robinson loaded the bases as a Little RBI single plated Coward. The 'Canes weren't finished yet as TJ Ersham's single to center field brought around Robinson and King. Back at the top of the order Watson would ground out to end the inning.
The Hurricanes would combine for ten more runs in the next three innings. Robinson and Little combined for 5 RBI in the second and fourth innings along with the help of Josh Bowers' two RBI double in the fourth.
Game 4:
Louisburg College 12 Suffolk County Community College 0
In the final game of the series, Louisburg College Baseball dealt Suffolk County Community College another loss taking the series 4-0. Frazier Field owned the Sharks as they were only able to connect on two hits in nine innings, compared to nine hits from the home team in Monday's game.
The 'Canes improved to 12-0 on the year while Suffolk falls to 0-4.
In his third start of the year, Tony Urban(2-0) followed his dramatic no-hitter performance from 2/7 vs. Lackawanna with a one-hit, five-inning performance to take the win. Urban walked only two batters and fanned four.
Game four was all Louisburg as they opened up with three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Steve Nyzistor's bb set the stage for Zach Houchins' RBI double to right center. With only one out, Tucker Coward's RBI single plated Houchins for the second run of the inning. Chris King's RBI double would end the scoring for the 'Canes in the first bringing in Coward from third making the score 3-0.
Louisburg blew the game open with five runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it 12-0. After a pitching change by Suffolk, Chris Robinson singled then stole second base bringing Marcus Wojtkowicz to the plate. A bb would advance Wojtckowicz to first. Josh Bowers' single to center field moves the runners ahead allowing for Jake Watson's RBI single to plate Robinson. With the bases loaded, Nyzistor crushed a grand slam to left center to clear the bases bringing the score to 12-0.
King was the leading hitter in the final game of the series going 3-4 with three doubles, one run and one RBI.
This Wednesday, the Hurricanes will be back in action at Frazier Field against Brunswick Community. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
