Baseball Returns to Action at Regionals
BURLINGTON, NC — After an on again off again, rain delayed, postponed Monday at the Region X Tournament, the Louisburg College baseball team returned to the field in Burlington Tuesday morning where they defeated Pitt CC, 5-1.
Joe McGillicuddy (Fairfax VA/Marshall University) avenged his brother John's Sunday loss by throwing six innings of three hit baseball. The righty only allowed one run and fanned three Bulldogs before giving way to Daniel Batts (Knighdale, NC/Knightdale HS) who earned the three-inning save.
Alex Ledford (Asheville, NC/Chattanooga State CC) led the Hurricanes' offence as he went 3-5 and knocked in one RBI. Augie Ayers (Chesterfield, VA/Manchester HS), Zac Laneve (Pittsburgh, PA/Pine Richland HS) and Jeffrey Sneed (Atlanta, GA/Kings Ridge HS) also contributed at the plate as they each had a pair of hits with Ayers and Sneed driving in runs.
The Hurricanes will take a short break before returning to the field tonight at 6:00 pm when they take on the winner of USC Lancaster and USC Sumter.
