Louisburg to Add Men's and Women's Cross Country
LOUISBURG, NC – Louisburg College and the Department of Athletics announced that they will be adding a pair of sports for the 2014-15 academic year as both men's and women's cross country will be added to a department that already boast nine intercollegiate sports teams.
Jay Koloseus has been tabbed as the head coach of both teams as LC director of athletics Mike Holloman announced that Koloseus accepted the position at the beginning of December, 2013. Koloseus will look to reboot a Hurricanes cross country program that made a brief appearance in the mid 2000's.
"I am excited about the readdition of cross country to our athletic program and equally excited for the hiring of Jay Koloseus as the head coach," said Mike Holloman. "Jay brings a wealth of knowledge and experience having been a Division 1 cross country student athlete and coach. I am confident he will recruit outstanding student athletes to Louisburg College and look forward to us fielding competitive teams in the future."
Koloseus comes to Louisburg College from the NCAA's Southeastern Conference (SEC) where he spent two and a half years on the Auburn University cross country and track and field coaching staffs. While coaching at Auburn he also earned his Master's Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling.
Prior to Auburn, Jay was an athlete at Syracuse University where he was an All-Northeast regional selection and Big East Champion in cross country. At Syracuse, he received a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise and Health Science.
A Guilford, Connecticut native, he attended Guilford High School where he was a multi-time state champion, All-American, and Foot Locker cross country national finalist.
