LC Softball Splits 1-1 With Patrick Henry CC
The Hurricane softball team played their final home date of the 2012 season where they split a nonconference doubleheader with Patrick Henry CC. The Patriots took the first game 5-2, but the Canes bounced back with a 9-0 win in the night cap.
Game 1

Jamie Hockaday (Butner, NC) took the loss in game one where she gave up five runs, four earned, on eight hits. Hockaday also fanned eight Patriot batters in the loss.
The Lady Canes only managed six hits in the opener; two of which went for extra bases as Tyler Weil (Lagrangeville, NY) hit a double and Maci Burns (Hebron, MD) hit a triple.
Game 2
LC 9 PHCC 0
Game two was all Hurricanes as Traci Bridgers (Goldsboro, NC) dominated in the circle and the Canes' bats woke up. Bridgers threw five innings in the mercy ruled game where she only gave up one hit and she struck out eight PHCC batters.
The Lady Canes pounded out 12 hits in game two where Katrina Bartlett (Greensboro, NC) led the way with a 2-4 effort that included a triple and a solo homerun. Emily Mercer (Raleigh, NC) and Tyler Weil also chipped in at the plate as they each went 2-3, hit a double and drove in a pair of RBI.
The Hurricanes will wrap up the 2012 regular season this weekend when they travel to USC-Salkehatchie for a four game set. The conference double-headers are scheduled to start at 2:00 pm on Saturday and noon on Sunday.
