On Friday, May 11, Louisburg College celebrated the graduation of 136 students with their Associates Degrees. Hurricane Athletics was well represented at the commencement with 80 student-athletes having degrees conferred.
Among the highlights for the Athletics Department were Jamie Clark being awarded with the I.D. Moon Award - a prestigious academic honor bestowed upon only one male and one female graduate. Also, Steven Cook and Steven Cherry earned 4.0 cumulative GPAs to be two of only five students in the class of 2018 to graduate Summa Cum Laude. All four graduates with Magna Cum Laude honors - a cumulative 3.8-3.99 GPA - were Hurricane student-athletes including Clark, Leticia Cantera, Seth Johnson and Jason Parker. The Hurricanes graduated ten student-athletes (of 15 total) Cum Laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.5-3.79. There were 11 graduates from the Athletics Department that participated in the Taylor Honors Program and 12 who were members of Phi Theta Kappa.
Louisburg College has a rich history in athletics, but moreover, the athletes that come to be Hurricanes are winning in all areas across campus.
