Lady ‘Canes Finish Runners-up At NC Wesleyan Spring Fling

The Lady Hurricanes Soccer team traveled to Rocky Mount, NC to compete at the North Carolina Wesleyan College Spring Fling. This was the first of two tournaments scheduled for the 'Canes this spring. The Lady Hurricanes made it all the way to the finals, where they were defeated by Mount Olive College 1-0. With a couple early attempts hitting the post and the crossbar, the 'Canes really gave a strong performance.

On the way to the Finals, the 'Canes beat NC Wesleyan 2-0, Barton College 2-0, and tied with Meredith College 1-1. In the Semi-Finals, the 'Canes faced the Lady Monarchs of Methodist University defeating them 2-0.

Scoring goals for the Lady Hurricanes were Iris Cruz, Sarah Hooper and Larie Bailey. Teresa Langley was outstanding as the keeper, giving up only two goals throughout the tournament.

Head coach Andy Stokes said, "The ladies were fantastic today. They were focused and tactically astute. This was a great way to showcase how strong the Louisburg College Women's Soccer program is. We were able to not only compete with, but beat Division II and Division III colleges."
