Colby Mangum Hired as Volleyball's Head Coach

LOUISBURG, NC – Louisburg College Director of Athletics Michael Holloman has announced the hiring of Colby Mangum to the position of Head Volleyball Coach.

"I am very happy with finding a great candidate in such a short period of time," said Athletic Director Mike Holloman. "Colby has some solid experience, both as a college player and a high school coach, and she has a great future as a college coach."

Mangum coached three seasons of high school volleyball at Southern Wayne High School (Mount Olive, NC) where she led the team to their first ever playoff game and three state tournament appearances. For her leadership, Mangum also earned a Conference Coach of the Year Award while at SWHS. In addition to coaching experience at the high school level, Coach Mangum has spent the last five years coaching the WAVE Volleyball Club, based out of Goldsboro, NC.

As a player, Colby appears in the Mount Olive College record books in nine categories, including season and career blocks leader and season hitting percentage leader. Mangum also led her squad to their first ever NCAA Atlantic Regional appearance in 2004.

Mangum will commence her duties on August 13th as the Hurricane volleyball team will begin preparations for their August 24th season opener.
