Volleyball Advances in Region Tournament

LOUISBURG, NC – The Louisburg College volleyball team advanced to the Region X tournament quarterfinals with an opening round, five set, win over Brunswick CC, Monday night. Brunswick took the first two games of the set (23-25, 25-27) but the Hurricanes responded taking the final three game (25-16, 25-21, 15-12) in the best of five match.

Kaitlyn Sitterson (Williamston, NC) led the offense with 11 total kills, just ahead of Chermaine Johnson (Charlotte, NC) and TeeAngela Sewell (New Bern, NC) who had nine kills each. Setter, Emily Kennington (Jefferson, SC) had a great two-way night as she set up the attack with 40 assists, all while anchoring the defensive effort with 18 digs. Two other Lady 'Canes put in double digit dig efforts as Ashley Walls (Rocky Mount, NC) chipped in with 14, while Sewell helped out with 12.

LC will hit the road for the tournament quarterfinals, to be played in Supply, NC November 2nd where they will take on second seed, Cape Fear CC. The remaining rounds of the tournament will also be played in Supply on November 3rd.
