Baseball Doubles Up on Pitt
LOUISBURG, NC — The Louisburg College baseball team opened up their four-game set with Pitt CC with a pair of wins at Frazier Field, Saturday afternoon.
The Hurricanes had to battle back and rally in the seventh inning of game one where they scored four runs in their last at bat. Joe McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA/Marshall University) got the start where he went six innings but didn't figure in the decision. Alex Ledford (Asheville, NC/Chattanooga State CC) got the win out of the pen in the 5-4 game.
Bradley Morton (Winston Salem, NC/Mt. Tabor HS) went 2-4 at the plate in game one and plated the winning run which was scored by Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) who went 1-4 and knocked in one RBI.
John Allen (Creedmoor, NC/East Carolina University) got the start, and 4-2 win, in game two as he threw 5.1 innings where he gave up one run on five hits. Ledford made another appearance in game two where he picked up a save with an inning where he only gave up one hit and fanned two PCC batters.
Mullins and Marcus Wajtkowicz (Owosso, MI/Owosso HS) were the top hitters in game two as they each went 2-3 and had an RBI each. AJ Farris (Lawrenceville, GA/Marshall University) didn't get a hit in the nightcap where he went 0-3 but he did drive in three RBI.
The two teams will return to Frazier Filed tomorrow with another 1:00 pm doubleheader. Louisburg will look to improve on their 13-4, 5-1 Region X, record.
