Baseball Earns a Conference Sweep of Pitt
LOUISBURG, NC — The Louisburg College baseball team earned a four-game sweep of Pitt CC as the Hurricanes dumped the Bulldogs, 6-3 and 12-8, on Sunday.
Jeremy Coburn (Louisburg, NC/Louisburg HS) got the start in the 6-3 win in the game one. The righty went the distance in the conference game where he gave up three runs, two earned, on eight hits. John McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA/Marshall University) got the win in game two where he gave up 13 hits in his start. McGillicuddy surrendered eight runs and fanned five Bulldog hitters in the 12-8 win.
Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) was the top performer at the plate in the opener as he went 3-4 and drove in one RBI. AJ Farris (Lawrenceville, GA/Marshall University) only had one hit in the first game but came back with a 3-4 performance in game two.
The 'Canes scored 12 runs on 15 hits in game two. Bradley Morton (Winston Salem NC/Mt. Tabor HS) scored four of the runs as he went 3-3, while Marcus Wajtkowicz (Owosso, MI/Owosso HS) went 2-3 and drove in four RBI.
The 15-4, 7-1 in Region X, Hurricanes will play a midweek single game on Wednesday when they host Brunswick CC at Frazier Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
