Baseball Picks Up a Midweek Win

LOUISBURG, NC — The Louisburg College baseball team earned a midweek nonconference win as they defeated Brunswick CC, 5-3, Wednesday afternoon.

 

Daniel Batts (Knightdale, NC/Knightdale HS) got the start but didn't figure in the decision as Tyler Holt (Raleigh, NC/Cary Academy) got the win out of the pen. Batts threw 3.2 inning where he gave up three runs, two earned, on four hits. Holt threw one inning where he only surrendered one hit. Alex Ledford (Asheville, NC/Chattanooga State CC) earned the save as he threw one inning of shutout ball.

 

Centerfielder, Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) did a good job out of the leadoff spot as he went 2-4 at the plate. Augie Ayers (Chesterfield, VA/Manchester HS) got the big hit for LC as he went 1-4 and knocked in three RBI with a base clearing double. Jeffrey Sneed (Atlanta, GA/Kings RidgeHS) and Marcus Wajtkowicz (Owosso, MI/Owosso HS) knocked in the other Hurricane runs as they each went 1-2.

 

The 16-4, 7-1 in Region X, Hurricanes will return to Frazier Field this weekend when they host Florence Darlington Tech for a four-game weekend series. First pitch in Saturday and Sunday's doubleheaders is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
