Baseball Drops Two Vs. FDTC

LOUISBURG, NC — The 16-6, 7-3 in Region X, Louisburg College baseball team was defeated in both ends of a conference home doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes were downed 5-3 by Florence Darlington Technical College in the opener and the Stingers got the 'Canes 2-1 in the nightcap.  

 

Jeremy Coburn (Louisburg, NC/Louisburg HS) took the loss in game one where he gave up five runs on five hits through three innings of work. Daniel Batts (Knightdale, NC/Knightdale HS) threw the final four innings where only allowed one hit and he fanned three FDTC batters.

 

Bradley Morton (Winston Salem NC/Mt. Tabor HS) provided most of the Hurricanes offense in the game one loss as he went 2-3 and hit a two-run homerun.

 

John Allen (Creedmoor, NC/East Carolina University) got the start in game two where he picked up the loss. The lefty gave up two runs, on three hits, through six innings and he struck out eight Stingers.

 

Morton again was the top performer at the plate as he went 2-3 in game two, while Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) knocked in the only Hurricane run as he went 1-3.

 

The two teams were to return to Frazier Field today but rained has cancelled the doubleheader. LC will return to the field next weekend when they travel to Guilford Tech CC for a weekend conference series to be played Friday and Saturday.
