Baseball Splits Their Weekend Series

GREENSBORO, NC — The Louisburg College baseball team closed out their weekend series with Guilford Tech CC, Saturday afternoon, with a split of the two conference games. The Hurricanes took game one 5-2 but the Titans responded by taking the series finale, 7-6.

 

Jeremy Coburn (Louisburg, NC/Louisburg HS) got the start, and win, in game one where he gave up two runs, on nine hits, through 6.1 innings of work. The sophomore hurler also fanned four GTCC hitters as he improves to 4-2 on the season. John McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA/Marshall University) picked up the loss in game two as he gave up seven runs, on nine hits, in the start.

 

LC pounded out 11 hits in the first game with Pete Guy (Thomasville, NC/Ledford HS) and Bradley Morton (Winston Salem NC/Mt. Tabor HS) leading the way as they each went 3-4. Guy and Morton also led the 'Canes in the game two loss as Guy went 1-2 with a homerun and a pair of RBI, while Morton went 3-3, hit a homerun and drove in three RBI.

 

The 18-8, 9-5 in Region X, Hurricanes will hit the road on Tuesday when they play a nonconference game at Brunswick CC. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 pm in Wilmington.
