Hurricanes Drop Two at Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, SC — The Louisburg College baseball team lost both ends of a conference doubleheader at Spartanburg Methodist College, Saturday afternoon.  

 

Joe McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA/Marshall University) picked up the loss in the series opener as he threw six innings where he surrendered four runs, two of which were earned. The sophomore also fanned seven SMC batters in the 4-3 loss.

 

LC out-hit Spartanburg 10-4 in game one and three Hurricanes put in solid offensive efforts as Augie Ayers (Chesterfield, VA/Manchester HS), Tyler Long (Alton, VA/Halifax County HS) and Bradley Morton (Winston Salem, NC/Mt. Tabor HS) each went 2-3.

 

John Allen (Creedmoor, NC/East Carolina University) got the start in game two but he didn't figure in the decision as Alex Ledford (Asheville, NC/Chattanooga State CC) took the loss out of the pen. Tim Mansfield (Charlotte, NC/Providence Day HS) was the top hitter in game two's 4-3 loss as he went 1-2 with a pair of RBI.

 

The 23-11, 12-8 in Region X, Hurricanes will play two more games at Spartanburg tomorrow with the conference twin bill starting at 1:00 pm.
