Baseball Splits Their Weekend Series

SPARTANBURG, SC — The Louisburg College baseball team earned a weekend split with Spartanburg Methodist College as the Hurricanes bounced back from Saturday's two losses with a pair of Sunday wins.

The 'Canes made two seventh inning runs to come from behind and win both games, both with a final score of 5-4. Neither LC starter figured in the decisions as Jeremy Coburn (Louisburg, NC/Louisburg HS) got the start in game one and John McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA/Marshall University) in game two.

Alex Ledford (Asheville, NC/Chattanooga State CC) got the win in game one as he only gave up one hit in the game's final 1.1 innings. The sophomore pitcher even helped at the plate where he went 1-3 and hit a solo homerun. Freshman pitcher, Daniel Batts (Knightdale, NC/Knightdale HS) earned the win in game two where he went two innings strong out of the pen. Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) was the offensive leader in game two where he went 3-4, hit a homerun and drove in four RBI.

The 25-11, 14-8 in Region X, Hurricanes will host Lenoir CC on Wednesday for a single nonconference game, then return to conference play next weekend when they play at USC Salkehatchie
