2013 Outstanding Student Athletes

2013 Outstanding Student Athletes

Earlier this week the Louisburg College faculty and staff recognized outstanding achievements by members of the campus community, including distinguished service awards, academic achievement honors and other student successes. As part of the 2013 Awards Day program, two Hurricanes were honored as Outstanding Student Athlete Award winners. The athletic honors are given annually to the Hurricane male and female student athletes who have made the most outstanding contributions to the athletic program while maintaining academic excellence at Louisburg College.

The 2012-13 outstanding female student athlete is Morgan Tharrington (Franklinton, NC), a member of the Lady 'Canes softball team. She currently maintains a 3.75 GPA and is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa national honor society. Tharrington was an All-Region X selection as a freshman and currently leads the conference in homeruns with 15. She is being recruited by several colleges but has yet to decide on her plans for next year.

John McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA) is this year's outstanding male athlete. The pitcher on the baseball team currently has a 4.0 GPA and is the current President of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL). John currently holds a 6-1 record as a weekend starting pitcher for the Hurricanes and has signed a baseball scholarship with High Point University for next year.
