Hurricanes Split at Salkehatchie
ALLENDALE, SC — The Louisburg College baseball team lost their series opener, 4-3, at USC Saklehatchie but answered with a 12-0 thrashing of the Indians in Saturday's game two.
Right handed pitcher, Joe McGillicuddy (Fairfax, VA/Marshall University) took the loss in game one where he went 6.2 innings in the conference start. The sophomore gave up four runs, three earned, on five hits and he fanned six Indian hitters.
Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) and Tyler Long (Alton, VA/Halifax County HS) led the way at the plate in the loss as Mullins went 3-4 and Long 2-3. Long also drove in a pair of RBI.
John Allen (Creedmoor, NC/East Carolina University) got the start in game two where he faced the minimum batters in the five inning game. Allen only allowed one hit and struck out seven batters in the shutout.
Louisburg pounded out 13 total hits in game two and they were led by Alex Ledford (Asheville, NC/Chattanooga State CC) who went 3-3 and drove in four RBI. Bradley Morton (Winston Salem, NC/Mt. Tabor HS) also drove in four RBI as he went 2-2 and hit a three-run bomb. Long did a good job in both ends of the twin bill as he went 2-3 in game two and knocked in two more RBI.
The 27-12, 15-9 in Region X, Hurricanes will play two more games at Salkehatchie tomorrow with the conference twin bill starting at 1:00 pm.
