#16 Football Shuts Out HVCC
LOUISBURG, NC – The #16 Louisburg College football team knocked off Hudson Valley CC, 30-0, in Northeast Football Conference action, Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Hurricanes improve to 6-1 overall, 3-1 in conference play.
Freshman kicker Ryan Samuels (Fredricksburg, VA) got the 'Canes on the board with a 43 yard first quarter field goal which was his first of three 40-plus yard strikes. Samuels also hit a 41 yard field goal in the second quarter and a 42 yarder in the fourth.
Chris Brown (Kinston, NC) had the Hurricanes' only score of the third quarter as he had a six yard rush into the end zone. LC quarterback, Madison Mills (Winston Salem, NC) had a good fourth quarter where he threw a pair of touchdown passes, the first to Mark Pace (Partlow, VA) and the second to Chris Taylor (Wilson, NC) which was on a 30 yard pass play.
Jeff Richardson (Charlotte, NC) was the big stopper on defense for the 'Canes as he made five solo tackles, assisted on two others, all while getting a sack, picking off two passes, breaking up another and forcing a fumble. Fred Howard (Stone Mountain, GA) also made some big plays as he picked off three HVCC passes. In the shutout, LC made 18 total tackles for loss, including three sacks.
The #16 Hurricanes will hit the road next week as they travel to Uniondale, New York to take on #6 Nassau CC. Kickoff in the Northeast Football Conference game is scheduled for noon.
