Bowl Bound
LOUISBURG, NC – The #18 Louisburg College football team has accepted an invitation to play in the 2012 Graphic Edge Bowl against Ellsworth Community College (Iowa Falls, Iowa) on December 2nd. The game will be played in the University of Northern Iowa's UNI-Dome and the trip to Cedar Falls, Iowa will be a historical journey for the Hurricanes as this will be the program's first ever bowl game.
The Hurricanes finished 2012 with a record of 6-2, tied for third place in the Northeast Football Conference, and will take on a Panthers squad that finished their season with a record of 6-4, good enough for second place in the Midwest Football Conference.
The bowl game will be a coming home of sorts for Louisburg head coach John Sala as he took part in three bowl games, as a part of the Ellsworth coaching staff, in the UNI-Dome. Sala was the Panther's offensive coordinator in the 2001 Pepsi Bowl and their head coach for the Graphic Edge Bowls in 2003 and 2004.
The two teams will meet in the UNI-Dome with a scheduled kickoff of 11:00 am. Their game will precede the NJCAA Football Championship, also in the UNI-Dome, between #1 Iowa Western CC (Council Bluffs, Iowa) and #2 Butler CC (El Dorado, Kansas).
