Canes Drop a Dozen on Wake Tech
RALEIGH, NC — The Louisburg College men's soccer team got their 2013 record back to .500 (6-6-1 overall, 6-4-1 in Region X) as they put a 12-2 thumping on Wake Tech CC, Sunday afternoon.
Nikolai Hammer (Clearwater, FL/Countryside HS) scored the Hurricanes' first goal which was his first of three in the conference win. Zevon Wells (St. Petersburg, FL/St. Petersburg Senior HS) and Bakawasu Kinteh (Duluth, GA/Lambert HS) also earned hat tricks, while Adrian Gonzales (Fuquay Varina, NC/Fuquay Varina HS) found the back of the net twice. Eduardo Alvarez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Golden HS) scored the Canes' other goal which was one of two penalty kicks that were scored by Louisburg. Hammer and Bakawasu also picked up a couple assists each in the match
Louisburg outshot Wake Tech 27-7. LC keeper Brian Howard (Roanoke Rapids, NC/ Roanoke Rapids HS) gave up a pair of goals which is the highest single game total of the season. The sophomore also made three saves.
The Hurricanes will play another road Region X game on Wednesday when they travel to USC Lancaster. Opening kick in Lancaster, SC is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
