Men's Soccer Takes Bland 11-1
PETERSBURG, VA — The Hurricanes men's soccer team closed out the 2013 regular season with an 11-1 thrashing of Richard Bland College, Sunday afternoon.
The Canes outshot the Statesmen 27-3 and one of the shots came from Justin Burrell (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run HS) who opened up the games scoring early in the contest. Fraz Bass (Leeds, England/Whitcliffe Mount HS) picked up the Hurricane's next goal, which was his first of two on the day. Bass also assisted on a pair of goals including one of Adrian Gonzales (Fuquay Varina, NC/Fuquay Varina HS) two scores.
Bakawasu Kinteh (Duluth, GA/Lambert HS) and Tyler Van-Hall (Raleigh, NC/Heritage HS) each scored a pair of goals in the conference win, while Ariel Montero (Reston, VA/South Lakes HS) and Erik Rodriguez (Fredericksburg, VA/Stafford Senior HS) also scored.
The Hurricanes finish the regular season with a record of 9-6-1, 9-4-1 in Region X play. The team's next action will be in the Region X tournament. Tournament pairings and game times are still to be determined.
