Region X Player of the Year

LOUISBURG, NC  –  The Louisburg College men's soccer team is preparing for their Southeast District playoff game this Saturday and one player that will be called upon to the lead the way is sophomore midfielder, Hassan Kouyateh who has been named the 2013 Region X Player of the Year.

Kouyateh helped lead his team to a regular season record of 9-6-1, including a conference mark of 9-4-1. The Greensboro, NC native also helped lead the Canes to a Region X title as they knocked off USC Lancaster, USC Salkehatchie and Spartanburg Methodist College in the Region X Tournament. Louisburg outscored their opponents 23-1 in the playoff games and although his name doesn't appear on the stat sheet very often, the midfielder is a big setup man for one of the NJCAA's top offensive units.

The Hurricanes (12-6-1) will travel to Melbourne, Florida for Saturday's district playoff game against Eastern Florida State College (12-1-2) with the winner advancing to the 2013 NJCAA Championship Tournament in Tyler, Texas.
