Softball Splits With Southeastern

WHITEVILLE, NC — The Louisburg College softball team picked up a road nonconference win, 3-2, over Southeastern CC, Thursday afternoon but the Canes couldn't complete the sweep as SCC got game two, 5-1.

 

Megon Smith (Garland, NC/Union HS) got the win in game one as she went the distance throwing seven innings where she gave up two runs on five hits. The freshman also helped herself out at the plate where she went 2-3, scored a run and drove in one RBI. Megan Johnson (Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids HS) also helped out at the plate as she went 1-3, with a double and an RBI.

 

Sophomore, Rebecca Norwood (Norlina, NC/Southern Vance HS) got the start in game two and she picked up the loss as she threw five innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on eight hits. Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS) threw the final inning where she gave up two runs, one earned on one hit.

 

Sierra McLaren (Guelph, Ontario/Guelph Collegiate Secondary) was the top hitter in game two as she went 3-4, hit a double and stole a base, while Smith went 1-3, scored a run and hit a double.

 

The Canes will have a day off tomorrow then return to conference play when they host USC Sumter, both Saturday and Sunday. First pitch in each doubleheader is scheduled for noon at Cotten Field.
