Softball's Road Woes Continue
SPARTANBURG, SC — The Louisburg College softball team's road record drops to 4-10 as they lost a pair of Region X games to Spartanburg Methodist College, 8-1 and 5-3, Saturday afternoon.
Megon Smith (Garland, NC/Union HS) picked up a pair of losses on the day as she went five innings in the game one start then her defense let her down in game two where she came in relief of Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS). In game one Smith allowed six runs, five earned on seven hits; in game two she threw one inning, allowing two unearned runs on one hit. Allison had a quality start in game two where she scattered seven hits and gave up three runs through five innings of work.
Megan Johnson (Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids HS) was the Lady Canes top hitter in game one where she went 2-3, hit a double and scored the Canes' only run. Allison, Sierra McLaren (Guelph, Ontario/Guelph Collegiate Secondary) and Lauren Simmons (Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids HS) each picked up a pair of hits in game two with, both Allison and McLaren scoring runs.
The Canes will return to the field in Spartanburg on Sunday as the two teams play another conference doubleheader starting at noon.
