Rain Slows Down the Lady Canes

ALLENDALE, SC — The Lady Canes softball team picked up a much needed conference win, Friday afternoon, as they knocked off the Indians of USC Salkehatchie, 5-2. But as they got off to 6-1 start in game two, rain shut down the Lady Canes, and the game, in the third inning.

Megon Smith (Garland, NC/Union HS) got the win in game one where she went the distance throwing seven total innings where she allowed two runs on six hits. The freshman also fanned six USCL hitters.

Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS) recorded two of the Canes five hits and she plated three of the LC runs in her final at bat. Allison also scored one run and smacked a double. Sierra McLaren (Guelph, Ontario/Guelph Collegiate Secondary), Lauren Simmons (Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids HS) and Smith got the other Louisburg hits, with Simmons and Smith scoring runs.

The Canes are scheduled to play two more conference games in Allendale tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
