HICKORY, NC – The #1 Louisburg College women's basketball team picked up their first conference loss of the season as they fell 75-70 to Catawba Valley CC, Saturday night. The overtime loss sets the 'Canes Region X record at 8-1, 20-2 overall.

The Lady 'Canes went into the halftime break with a 31-27 lead on the undefeated Buccaneers, but CVCC bounced back in the second frame outscoring LC 39-35. Neither team put up a lot of points in the overtime period but the home side outscored Louisburg 9-4, improving CVCC's record to 24-0.

Jazmine Parker (Burlington, NC/Oak Ridge Military) led the way for the Lady 'Canes as she earned a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds. Justin Taylor (Gastonia, NC/Ashbrook HS) was the top point scorer for LC as she scored 15 points on 6-18 shooting. The guard also swiped six boards in the conference loss. Courtney Raiford (Greenwood, SC/Greenwood HS) also put up a double digit scoring effort as she scored 11 points on 5-8 shooting.

The Hurricanes will play another road conference game on Monday when they travel to Cape Fear CC. The Region X game in Wilmington is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
