JAMESTOWN, NC – The #9 Louisburg College women's basketball team improved their season record to 22-2 with a midweek, 77-55, conference win over Guilford Tech CC, Thursday night. LC controlled the game from the beginning as they outscored GTCC 40-24 in the first half. The second half was closer at 37-31, but the 'Canes improved to 10-1 in Region X play with the win.

Olivia Gaines (Chester, SC/Chester HS) and Latrice Phelps (Virginia Beach, VA/Tallwood HS) led the way on offense as Gaines scored 21 on 9-20 shooting which was just ahead of Phelps who scored 20 on 8-12 from the field. Phelps also led the Hurricanes on the boards as she swiped nine rebounds.

Justin Taylor (Gastonia, NC/Ashbrook HS) and Courtney Raiford (Greenwood, SC/Greenwood HS) also had double-digit efforts in the conference win as Taylor scored 11, while Raiford scored 10.

The Hurricanes will hit the road on Saturday when they travel to Clinton Junior College for a nonconference game. Opening tip in Rock Hill, SC is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
