Student Athletes of the Year
LOUISBURG, NC — Louisburg College held the annual Awards Day on Tuesday where a host of students were honored for their various accomplishments through the fall 2013 and spring 2014 semesters.
LC Director of Athletics, Mike Holloman honored two Hurricanes as Female and Male Student Athletes of the Year, with Kiara Rawls (Killeen, TX/Shoemaker HS) and Cedric Mullins (Snellville, GA/Brookwood HS) taking home the hardware.
Rawls led the Lady Canes basketball team to the 2014 NJCAA Championship Tournament where she left the tournament with the highest scoring average among all players. For her efforts on the court, the sophomore guard also picked up an All-Region honor and NJCAA All-American award. Rawls is narrowing down numerous four-year offers where she will continue her academic and athletic careers next fall.
Mullins is currently the leadoff hitter and centerfielder for the Hurricanes baseball team where he leads all Canes hitters with a .406 batting average and seven homeruns. A perfect 4.0 student, the sophomore has committed to play for the Fighting Camels of Campbell University next year, where he plans to major in business.
