Women's Soccer Off to Nationals

LOUISBURG, NC – The Louisburg College women's soccer team is off to the 2012 NJCAA National Championship tournament as they defeated the Community College of Baltimore County Essex, 5-0, in the District L Championship, Saturday afternoon.

Jessica Scales (Roanoke Rapids, NC) has been the LC offensive leader through 2012 and she was in peak form Saturday as she scored three goals in the playoff win. Catherina Borgstrom (Stockholm, Sweden) and Shelby Devine (Hebron, MD) were the other Louisburg scorers, in a game where the Lady 'Canes outshot their competition 15-1.

"This is an unbelievable win for our program," said head coach Andy Stokes. "I'm really proud of this team, who really did it as a team."

The Hurricanes will now prepare for the 2012 NJCAA Women's Soccer National Championship in Melbourne, Florida, Nov. 12-17. The trip to the championship tournament is the first for the Lady 'Canes.
