A Trio of All-Americans

LOUISBURG, NC –The Louisburg College men's and women's soccer teams finished their seasons by competing in the their NJCAA National Tournaments which was a first for the women's team and a tournament best for the men as they made it to the championship game. Each team had some great team and individual efforts and three Hurricanes have been honored for their excellence on the field.

The Lady 'Cane's Jessica Scales (Roanoke Rapids, NC, Roanoke Rapids HS) led the NJCAA in goals scored with 39, which earned her an All-American honor as she was placed on the honorable mention squad. The frosh forward scored in 16 of the 'Canes 21 games, including eight hat tricks and a six goal game.

Eduardo Alvarez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Golden HS) and Rene Legien (Hamelin, Germany/ Handellehranstalt HS) were recognized for their play in 2012 as they were both named NJCAA's All-Americans. Legien earned his 1st Team award as a midfielder while Alvarez earned his nod to the 3rd Team as a forward. The pair of freshmen led the Hurricanes to a final record of 21-1, with their only loss coming in overtime in the national championship game.
