WILMINGTON, NC — The #10 Lady Canes women's soccer team kicked off their 2013 season with a road game versus the Community College of Baltimore County – Catonsville in Wilmington. The nonconference opener was all LC who picked up the 7-0 victory.

2012's national scoring leader, Jessica Scales (Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids HS) got off to a solid start in 2013 as she found the back of the net four times in the season opener. Newcomer, Sam Rowland (London, England/Welling School) also proved to be a scoring threat for the Lady Canes as she scored twice in her first game for Louisburg. Sophomore midfielder, Riley O'Connell (Highpoint, NC/Andrews HS) scored the other LC goal.

Louisburg outshot the Cardinals 26-2 with Allison Bell (Creedmoor, NC/South Granville HS) making the two saves, earning the shutout in net.   

Louisburg will return to the field in Wilmington tomorrow when they take on Howard CC (Laurel, MD) in a nonconference game that is scheduled to start at 11:00 am.
