#10 Lady Canes Split Weekend Games
LOUISBURG, NC — The #10 Louisburg College women's soccer team split a pair of weekend games as they lost a Saturday afternoon contest, 3-2, to the College of Southern Maryland but bounced back with a convincing, 5-1, victory over South Georgia State College on Sunday.
Sam Rowland (London, England/Welling School) and Jessica Scales (Roanoke Rapids, NC/Roanoke Rapids HS) scored the two LC goals in Saturday's loss. Both scores came in the first half but they weren't enough as the Hawks scored three times in the second half.
Scales led the way in Sunday's win as she picked up the hat trick, upping her early season total to nine goals. Rowland also found the back of the net as she scored her sixth of the season. Rowland picked up a couple more points as she assisted on a pair of goals, while Scales picked up one assist. Frosh midfielder, Kim Olvera (Charlotte, NC/Rocky River HS) scored her first goal as a Hurricane in the weekend ending win.
The (3-1) Hurricanes will open up conference play on Wednesday when the host Wake Tech CC at May Field. The Region X game is scheduled to start at 5:00 pm.
