LOUISBURG, NC — The Lady Canes volleyball team hosted a pair of matches on Saturday where they split the day dropping their opening match, 3-2, to Sandhills CC, but the Hurricanes bounced back with a, 3-1, conference win Brunswick CC in the night cap.

Sophomore middle blocker Ashley Britton (Henrico, NC/Brunswick Academy) led the way in game one's nonconference loss as she had 12 kills, two blocks and a pair of ace serves. Outside hitter Kaitlyn Sitterson (Williamston, NC/South Creek HS) had a great two way effort as she had 11 kills to go along with her 15 digs.

Britton played well again in game two as she had seven more kills and four blocks, while Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS) helped out at the net with five kills and a pair of blocks. Ashley Johnson (Wilson, NC/Wilson Hunt HS) was a defensive leader in both matches as she had 22 digs in the first match and another 13 in the later match.

The 2-1, 2-0 in Region X, Lady Canes will host another conference match on Wednesday when the Lancers of Lenoir CC come to Taylor Center. Opening serve is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
