Volleyball Drops Two Matches
RALEIGH, NC — The Lady Canes volleyball team took part in a three team event, Friday night, where the Canes were defeated by #16 Catawba Valley CC(3-0) and Wake Tech CC (3-2).
Frosh right side, Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS) played well in the loss to Catawba Valley as she led the team with five kills and she helped out on defense as she made six digs. Libero, Ashley Johnson (Wilson, NC/Wilson Hunt HS) also put in a solid effort as she led the Canes with 18 digs.
Sophomore middle blocker, Ashley Britton (Henrico, NC/Brunswick Academy) played strong at the net in the five-game loss to Wake Tech as she had four blocks and six kills, while Jasmine Phillips (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville HS) also played well up front with eight kills and a pair of blocks. Freshman setter, Ellen TooToo (Wilson, NC/Wilson Hunt HS) continued her steady play as she set up the Hurricane attack by making 28 assists in the match. Ashley Johnson again led the defensive effort as she had 21 digs.
The 2-5, 2-4 in Region X, Lady Canes will return home for their next match, Monday night, when they host Guilford Tech CC in the Taylor Center. Opening serve is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
