LOUISBURG, NC — The Lady Canes volleyball team put together a great team effort, Monday night, as they knocked off Guilford Tech CC in a conference match. The Hurricanes took the match in three sets where they had to go to extra points (29-27) in game one of the best of five match. LC had a slow start in both of the first two games but pulled out game two (25-22) and dominated in the finale (25-11).

Outside hitter, Kaitlyn Sitterson (Williamston, NC/South Creek HS) had her best night of the season as she put away 15 kills and chipped in with six digs. Ashley Johnson (Wilson, NC/Wilson Hunt HS) also helped out with a solid defensive effort as she led the way with 21 total digs. The team also had 13 aces, three of which came from Johnson.

Right side, Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS) and middle blocker, Jasmine Phillips (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville HS) played strong at the net as they each had six kills in the conference win.

The 3-5, 3-4 in Region X, Lady Canes will hit the road for another Region X match, on Wednesday, when they travel to Lenoir CC. Opening serve in Kinston is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
