Volleyball Stops Wake Tech in Three
LOUISBURG, NC — The Lady Canes volleyball team played their final home game of the 2013 season where they knocked off Wake Tech CC, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-16), in a Region X match.
Deborrah Bennett (Mt. Olive, NC/Southern Wayne HS) and Jasmine Phillips (Hartsville, SC/Hartsville HS) led the offensive attack as they each had nine kills in the conference win. Jennifer Allison (Denver, NC/East Lincoln HS) also played well at the net as she made five kills.
The Canes had a great defensive effort from the whole team and Ashley Johnson (Wilson, NC/Wilson Hunt HS) led the way with 16 digs, which was just ahead of Bennett who made ten. Ashley Britton (Henrico, NC/Brunswick Academy) played big at the net as she made a game high four blocks.
Setter, Ellen TooToo (Wilmington, NC/Hoggard HS) had another great two-way game as she made 27 assists and chipped in with 12 digs.
The 7-9 Lady Canes will hit the road for their next match when they travel to Charlotte to play Johnson and Wales University. Opening serve in the nonconference match is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
