The women of the Louisburg cross country squad held off some outstanding athletes for a 5th place finish at the Barton Bulldog Invitational on Friday.
Haley Sheehan strained her hip after the Canes' last meet and had to sit out the evening on Friday. "With Haley in there we would have easily been in the top two teams and challenged to win," explained head coach Jay Koloseus. "Haley will be back soon and we will see better races from Abigail Morris and Stephanie Flores when I don't send them out so hard. We will see this team at full strength in the near future as they are on the upswing to becoming a national caliber group."

The Canes will run next in the Haganstone Invitational in Greensboro on October 1.
