LOUISBURG, N.C. – Louisburg College Athletic Director Mike Holloman announced today that Blake Herring has resigned as head baseball coach after accepting the head coaching position at Carteret Community College.

Herring departs Louisburg after a decade leading the Hurricanes baseball program. Since returning to Louisburg in 2015, he guided the program to more than 250 victories, developed over 100 student-athletes who advanced to four-year institutions, and helped produce numerous Region 10 award winners and an MLB Draft selection. His leadership and commitment to player development helped establish Louisburg College as one of the premier junior college baseball programs in the region.

"We are extremely grateful for Coach Herring's leadership and the impact he's had on our baseball program," Holloman said. "He represented Louisburg College the right way and built a program that consistently developed young men on and off the field. We wish him nothing but success at Carteret."

Following Herring's departure, Bryce Myers has been named interim head baseball coach for the 2026 season. Myers joined the Hurricanes staff last season after coaching at Bryant & Stratton College and brings both coaching experience and a strong connection to the program as a former Louisburg College student-athlete.

"Bryce understands what it means to be a Hurricane," Holloman added. "He's built strong relationships with our players, knows our culture, and will provide continuity as we move forward this season."

The Hurricanes will continue preparations for the upcoming season under Myers' leadership.
