Baseball Explodes for 23 Runs in Road Win Over Camp

The Louisburg College baseball team delivered one of its most explosive offensive performances of the season Wednesday afternoon, defeating Camp Community College 23–4 on the road.

The Hurricanes piled up 23 runs on 20 hits, blasting six home runs and scoring in six different innings to secure the convincing victory.

Camp struck first in the opening inning, but Louisburg responded quickly. In the second inning, Reese File launched a two-run home run to give the Hurricanes a 2–1 lead and spark the offense.

The game broke open in the third inning when Louisburg erupted for six runs. Camden Wilson started the rally with a solo home run, and the Hurricanes continued to apply pressure with timely hitting throughout the lineup. Clifton Olmedo delivered a two-run single, Steven Laurence added an RBI double, and Brady Paul followed with an RBI double to extend the lead to 8–2.

Louisburg continued to pour on the offense in the fourth inning. Olmedo doubled home two more runs, and Graham Wike added an RBI double as the Hurricanes pushed the advantage to 11–2.

The power surge continued in the fifth when Jace Dunn crushed a solo home run, and Louisburg added another run later in the inning to stretch the lead to 13–2.

After Camp briefly answered with a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth, the Hurricanes responded again in the sixth. Steven Laurence delivered one of the biggest swings of the day with a three-run home run, highlighting a five-run inning that pushed the lead to 18–4.

Louisburg added even more fireworks in the seventh. Taco Ferguson led off with a solo home run, and moments later Cade Currin launched a two-run homer to make it 21–4 before two additional runs crossed later in the inning.

Several Hurricanes had standout days at the plate:

  • Clifton Olmedo led the offense with four hits and four RBI.

  • Steven Laurence finished with two hits, including a three-run homer, and four RBI, while also scoring four runs.

  • Reese File added two hits, a home run, and four RBI.

  • Jace Dunn went 3-for-3 with a home run and four runs scored.

  • Camden Wilson collected three hits including a home run and a triple.

  • Brady Paul, Graham Wike, and Gavin Baucom also contributed key hits as the Hurricanes' lineup produced from top to bottom.

On the mound, Michael Williams started and worked four innings, allowing two runs while striking out three. Isaac Bennett followed with two innings in relief, striking out four, and Anderson Lower closed the game with a scoreless final inning.

With the win, Louisburg continues to build momentum heading into its next series.
