Balanced Effort Carries Hurricanes Past Patrick & Henry, 88–71
LOUISBURG, N.C. – The Louisburg College men's basketball team turned in a strong all-around performance Wednesday night, defeating Patrick & Henry Community College 88–71 inside Roger G. Taylor Arena to move to 2–0 on the young season.
The Hurricanes jumped ahead early and never looked back, using quick tempo and balanced scoring to control the game from start to finish. Louisburg opened with a 17–7 run in the first five minutes and stretched the margin to 17 by halftime, leading 52–35 at the break.
Sophomore forward Nehemiah McDonald powered the second-half surge, scoring 14 of his team-high 19 points after intermission while also anchoring the defense with key rebounds and rim protection. Freshman guard Julien Leveille came off the bench to add 15 points, giving the Hurricanes a lift during several scoring runs.
Freshman Donovan Majette continued his steady play from the opener, finishing with 12 points—all in the first half—while Isaiah Smith added 10 and Jayde Braswell contributed nine despite playing with a dislocated finger. Cameron Barnes provided an energy spark off the bench with eight points, including a pair of second-half three-pointers, while Robbie Knotts III also scored eight.
Louisburg's offense clicked at every level, with nine different players scoring and the team shooting efficiently from the field. Defensively, the Hurricanes used a mix of pressure and rebounding to keep the Patriots from mounting a serious comeback after halftime.
Patrick & Henry was led by William Jones, who finished with a game-high 29 points, and Nolan Prince, who added 18.
The Hurricanes will be back in action on Saturday, November 8, when they host Camp Community College at 4:00 p.m.
