Hurricanes Bounce Back at Southwest Virginia

The Louisburg College men's basketball team showed resilience on its current three-game road stretch, responding to a tough loss at Forsyth Tech with an impressive offensive performance at Southwest Virginia on Tuesday night. The Hurricanes now sit at 5–3 overall, heading into the final stop of the trip next week at Cleveland Community College.

Louisburg opened the swing on Saturday at Forsyth Tech and never fully found its rhythm, falling 90–70. The Hurricanes struggled to match Forsyth's efficiency early and trailed by 15 at the break. Despite the loss, several players produced solid efforts, including Isaiah Smith (13 points, 5 rebounds), Nehemiah McDonald (13 points, 4 steals), and Robbie Knotts III (10 points, 2 threes). The bright spot came from redshirt sophomore Christian Hodges, who contributed energy and physicality off the bench in the second half.

Three days later at Southwest Virginia, Louisburg looked like a different team. The Hurricanes pushed the pace immediately, exploded for 51 first-half points, and took command behind a balanced scoring attack that produced a 101–91 road victory.

Freshman guard Isaiah Smith led the way with a standout performance — 25 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals — controlling the game on both ends. Hodges delivered the most dominant outing of his LC career, compiling 19 points and 15 rebounds, including seven on the offensive glass that repeatedly extended possessions and broke SWCC's momentum.

Louisburg's depth also made a major impact.

The Hurricanes shot 49% from the field, connected on 8 threes, and won the rebounding battle 42–35, a major focus point after the Forsyth Tech loss.

Louisburg now turns its attention to the final game of the road swing as they travel to play Cleveland Community College on December 3. The Hurricanes look to carry Tuesday's momentum into another Region 10 matchup before returning home later in the week.
