Hurricanes Roll Past Guilford Tech
LOUISBURG, N.C. – Louisburg College put together a complete effort on Saturday afternoon, powering past Guilford Technical Community College 94–76 inside Roger G. Taylor Arena. The Hurricanes controlled the game from the opening tip, shooting the ball with confidence, defending with energy, and getting big performances from both their starters and bench to move to 6–4 overall and 3–3 in Region 10.
The tone was set immediately by freshman guard Donovan Majette, who buried two early three-pointers as Louisburg jumped in front 8–2 and never looked back. The Hurricanes forced nine Guilford Tech turnovers in the opening eight minutes and built a commanding 51–31 halftime lead, their largest home advantage of the year at the break.
From that point on, sophomore guard Isaiah Smith took over the game.
The Roxboro native delivered a season-high 27 points, scoring at all three levels and repeatedly punishing GTCC's smaller roster with mid-range jumpers, transition finishes, and aggressive drives to the basket. Smith went 5-of-8 at the line, grabbed four rebounds, and gave Louisburg a steadying presence anytime the Titans attempted to make a push.
Sophomore forward Kristian Hodges continued his strong return to the lineup, providing a major interior lift with 18 points and 8 rebounds, including multiple contested finishes around the basket and a timely three-pointer in the second half. His physical presence proved to be a difference-maker on both ends.
Freshman guard Jayde Braswell also gave the Hurricanes a major spark, totaling 13 points, 6 rebounds, and orchestrating the offense with poise, while sophomore wing Robbie Knotts impacted the game with energy and toughness, finishing with 9 points and strong defensive possessions that halted GTCC runs.
With the win, the Hurricanes improve to 5–2 at home and set up a marquee matchup next weekend.
