Golf Takes 2nd at JCC Invites

PRINCETON, NC – The Louisburg College golf team came up four shots short of winning the Johnston Community College Fall Invite #1 on Saturday. 

 

The air was heavy with moisture as a slow rain continued throughout the golf tournament which was won by Sandhills Community College who finished the contest with a team score of 311. The Hurricanes earned a 315, beating Johnston Community College (334) and Surry Community College (351).  

 

Juan Fernandez (Panama City, Panama) shot a 75 for second place overall, while Cal Addy (Newfield, NY) placed third overall with a 76. Ty Niday (Lexington, NC) shot an 81 and Zach Robins (Southern Shores, NC) turned in a scorecard with an 83. 

 

In perfect weather on Sunday the Canes (327) lost by seven strokes to Sandhills CC (320) while beating Johnston CC (335) and Surry CC (376) in the Johnston Community College Fall Invite #2 golf tournament at the Country Club of Johnston County in Smithfield, NC. 

Sumner Tate (Raleigh, NC), who did not play on Saturday, took second place with a 77 while Clay Boerner (Statesboro, GA) achieved third place with a 79.  Zach Robins and Juan Fernandez tied at 83 with Ty Niday scoring 84 and Cal Addy scoring 85.

The Hurricanes will return to the links on Tuesday as they host the Louisburg Whirlwind Adventure at the River Golf and Country Club in Bunn, NC. The tournament is scheduled to start at 1:30 pm.
