Golf Takes 4th at SCC Invite
WHISPERING PINES, NC - The Louisburg College golf team took part in a two day event this week hosted by Sandhills CC who won their Fall Invitational at Whispering Pines East Golf Course in Whispering Pines, NC.
Rain, thunder, and lightning was a factor Monday's opening round that was concluded after nine holes with Louisburg in fifth place overall. On Tuesday, the rain stopped but the wind became a factor in scoring, however, the Canes (485 total, 319 round two score) rallied for third place in the second round, coming in behind Sandhills CC (454 total) and Saint Andrews Presbyterian College (457 total) while beating Wake Tech CC (463), Johnston CC (502), and Surry CC (504).
Five Hurricanes scored well with Juan Fernandez (Panama City, Panama) leading the way as he scored a two-over-par 74 on day-two, while Cal Addy (Newfield, NY) scored a 79. Ty Niday (Lexington, NC) shot an 82, Zach Robins (Southern Shores, NC) scored an 84, and Sumner Tate (Raleigh, NC) finished at 88.
The next event for the Hurricanes will be the 18-hole Louisburg Whirlwind Stroke Play Golf Tournament at Bull Creek Golf & Country Club on Friday, October 19. Tee off is scheduled for 2:15 pm. On Saturday, October 20, Louisburg will sponsor the 36-hole Louisburg Iron Team Clash Modified Stableford Golf Tournament at Bull Creek Golf & Country Club with an 8:00 am tee time.
